Kings Towers – Parking Garage Rehabilitation, Kitchener, ON

Conducted a site investigation of the existing two-storey parking structure for this residential high rise apartment complex. Our investigation included intrusive testing, a coring program, delamination survey and selective cover meter survey for reinforcement location. As no drawings were available for the building, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) was used in some locations to determine reinforcement size, depth and orientation in order to assess structural capacity in specific areas. Our report included repair recommendations and cost estimation. Extent of repairs required phasing the project to address urgent structural issues in the first phase, with less urgent deterioration addressed the following two years. We produced rehabilitation drawings and provided full engineering design, site review and contract administration services for the project. Repairs included load capacity upgrades for fire truck loading using carbon fibre reinforcement.
